Music & Movies - dstarr@isys.ca
******
Think of your favorite horror film of all time. What is your
most memorable moment? Now what music was playing at that
moment?
Music and movies seem to go hand in hand, but that
statement isn't more true than in the horror film.
Everyone remembers the chilling theme to Psycho when
Norman/Mrs. Bates performs her most famous murder, or what about "Tubular Bells" from The Exorcist. Whatever the film, there is a
equally famous song or score that goes along with it.
I usually will be reviewing a soundtrack to a film in this article. These
will be as new as The Bride of Chucky, to as old as The Exorcist.
At the end of each month I will post the Top 5 Horror Film Soundtracks.
This list will be made from your votes. Send in your votes or a
Movie soundtrack title to review to:

Game Review (PC): Phantasmagoria: A Puzzle of Flesh - Pat McGreal
******
In the sequel to the renowned horror computer game
Phantasmagoria, you play the role of Curtis, a disturbed
bachelor, living what seems to be a normal life, but underneath
the surface is a man who has been disturbed for years.
As a young child, Curtis' mother dressed him in girl's clothing,
called him her "little monster" and planted seeds of insanity
into his young brain. In reaches the boiling point when Curtis
finds his mother, hanging dead in the living room.
After having been adopted by a corporation and spending most of
his life in a mental institution, Curtis becomes a productive
member of society with a steady job and a successful
relationship. Just as soon as everything seems to be going well,
Curtis' life turns upside down. Memories of his childhood, sexual confusion and mysterious brutal murders send him back down the
road to insanity.
Roberta Williams and Sierra software bring you Phantasmagoria:
A Puzzle of Flesh, a great game with a brilliant storyline. As
you progress, the chills begin to run down your spine and you
will find yourself glancing around, checking to make sure you
are alone. I have played very few games that I would classify as "horror", but this one is worthy to carry the title. If you are
looking for a game that will provide a great storyline, mental
puzzles, intrigue and some primal scares, this is for you.

Todd the Toymaster - Pat McGreal
******
Todd MacFarlane, creator of the "Spawn" comic books has recently
released a new line of horror character figures, aptly named
"Movie Maniacs". This line of toys follows in the tradition of
his other toy creation, including: Spawn action figures, Kiss
action figures, X-Files figures and two lines of classic monster
figures (Frankenstein, The Vampire, Hunchback and more.)
The newest line from MacFarlane Toys lives up to all
expectations, includes many of today's most recognizable horror
stars (Freddy Krueger, Jason, Leatherface and Eve of the Species movies.) The line will release two of each character: a "clean"
version and a bloody, gruesome version. I have only been able to
find the "clean" versions at my local retailers.
These figures are of the highest quality and are highly
recommended.
